Several unique design elements all come together in this top performing scuttle. The width at the base ensures a stable foundation for lathering, exterior ridges provide a sure grip, and the ergonomic handle has no equal. Interior grooves provide texture to expedite the lathering process and the bottom chamber holds eleven ounces of the hottest* tap water you can put inside. Ideally sized, this scuttle will become an indispensable part of your daily routine!

Created by a local potter to our design, each scuttle begins as two balls of clay. Thrown individually on the wheel, the interior lather bowl and exterior basin are then joined together to form the scuttle. After the handle and compass rose are affixed, the scuttle is set aside to air dry for a week. Following that it goes into a kiln for the bisque firing (1,900 degrees F.) After this first firing, the scuttle is dipped into the appropriate glaze and fired a second time to 2,400 degrees F. Now this functional piece of art is ready to deliver a lifetime of warm, soothing lather!

The beauty of this handmade item is that each one will differ slightly. The natural variation in the glaze along with the individual craftsmanship as they are created means that no two will be identical. Your scuttle will truly be one-of-a-kind! It will measure approximately 5” in diameter at the top, 4” across the base, and 3 1/2” tall. There is an interior depth of 2” for creating the lather. Dishwasher safe, microwave safe.
